Essential New York City Day Trip

Here is one tour itinerary I use to show my visiting friends and relatives around New York City (Manhattan).

1. Meet at the GM Building at 59th and Fifth. 
  • Central Park
  • The Plaza Hotel
  • Horse and Buggies on 59th Street
  • The Apple Store
  • FAO Schwarz Toy Store.
2. Walk South to the Corner of 57th and Fifth.
  • Tiffany's
  • Bergdorf Goodman
  • Henri Bendel
4. Continue South.
  • Takashimaya Japanese Department Store between 55th and 54th.
    Stop in lower level for Tea Service.
3. Continue South.
  • Trump Tower (Check out snack places)
  • Optional detour
    Museum of Modern Art (MOMA).
    Make a right on 54th Street towards Sixth Avenue
    MOMA Store on the Street Level. Return to Fifth Avenue
5. Continue South down Fifth Avenue to 50th Street.
  • St. Patrick's Cathedral
  • Rockefellor Center and the Ice Rink (Christmas Tree during Holidays)
  • Saks Fifth Avenue.
6. Continue South to 42nd Street.
  • The New York City Public Library
    Free Tours, Restrooms on the second floor
    The Two Lions: Patience and Fortitude
  • Free WiFi in the Neighborhood
  • Free Internet and Email. 15 Minute Limited use (shorter waits) in the 40th Street Annex across the street from the Main Library. 4th Floor
  • Bryant Open Air Park and Restaurant in the back of the library towards Sixth Avenue with Public Restrooms
7.  Continue South to 34th Street.
  • The Empire State Building.
    Spectacular panoramic views from the 86th Floor.
    A MUST for all visitors.
